You are typing on a message board. You want people to understand what you are saying. Be sure to use proper sentence structure when you write. Also, be sure you are adding in punctuation and spacing where appropriate. The first letter of every sentence is capitalized. Statements end with periods. Questions end with question marks. There is a space in between sentences. Please also put a paragraph break between thoughts. You don't want to look like a fool, and we do not want you to make us look like idiots for allowing you to post that way!

Outlandish disregard for typing properly is subject to being corrected in red by moderators. This is intended to give people a somewhat-snide little "heads-up" that they agreed to these rules and are expected to type properly. Not every little mistake will be corrected (especially those from our foreign, non-native-English-speaking visitors), but if you find yourself subject to these corrections, it may be time to re-evaluate your posting style (a.k.a. "Seriously... you're above the age of ten and live in suburban America; for goodness sake, use a period!").

We have even typed up a special, if you will, "Grammar Primer" that we encourage all present and new members to check out. Following this style-guide will certainly help you fit in around here... not to mention help your over-all writing! Also, we would greatly appreciate it if you would not post in any colors other than the default black. It just looks childish.

If you see a thread has been inactive for a while (weeks, even months)... do not reply to it without extremely good cause. What that does is knock it all the way back up to the top of the forum. This confuses us and other visitors because we have forgotten about the thread by now, and so it seems like there is this new thread with TONS of posts we need to go through! This is especially hard on moderators because we end up re-reading threads that we have already gone through! If you feel it is really important, do not be afraid to just start a new thread (with its own new discussion). Chances are, if you respond to an old one, we will not know what the heck you are talking about!

This is a message board for and about DragonBall. It is not a Sailor Moon forum. It's not an "I Hate FUNimation" forum. If you want to talk about those kinds of things, that is fine... but this is not the place for it. Also, there is no need to have (completely unrelated) personal conversations in the middle of threads. If you find yourself having what ends up being a one-to-one "back-and-forth" with someone (which almost always will inevitably lead to a random, off-topic discussion or argument), take it to the personal messages or via e-mail.

You do not need to have a post in every thread. When you first sign up, you may be tempted to go through every single thread and add in something to get your two cents in. Before you post, ask yourself: are you offering anything new to the conversation that has not come before? Are you providing information others may not know? If the answer is "no" to either of these questions, re-evaluate whether or not you should reply. Saying nothing other than "I agree" or "Yes" isn't really helping anyone. In other words, a post that is only one line long is not a post. Furthermore, posting some kind of (non)"witty" image ("A Wizard Did It", etc.) is also not a post.

We ask that our new members recognize that this is not your typical DragonBall message board. Many of the standard conversation-types and quirks used on other forums are either completely foreign to members here, or highly frowned upon. Please do not speak in "equations" for comparing character strengths, for example (SSJ2 Goku post-Senzu > Bootenks 2.5); this not only looks ridiculous, but does little to add to a genuine conversation. "Battle Power" or "Power Level" debates, while not expressly forbidden, also tend to leave little in the way of actual conversation.

Be respectful of your peers. There are people of many different nationalities, ethnicities, sexualities, etc. If someone is factually incorrect, do not be afraid to correct them... but be nice about it. In turn, do not be a jerk if someone corrects you on something. Believe it or not, you do not know everything! Your opinions must be expressed with civility. It really should not be so much to ask that we all just act like normal human beings to each other, so that is exactly what we are going to ask of you. Leave the attitude and ego at the door, really, is all we ask!

We also ask that our forum members never mid-conversation play the card of acting like a victim. Please understand that with so many aspects and products of the franchise in existence, it is possible (and likely) that many will come under close scrutiny. Be realistic about it and pay attention to what is actually being discussed and argued; realize that when inanimate objects are being criticized, it is not a personal attack on you. If any forum member in any situation "plays the victim" for any reason, they will be subject to an immediate one-week temporary ban.

Branching off of this, while Daizenshuu EX itself (as a website and its maintainers) is/are based in North America, we have an incredibly global fandom visiting our website and forum. We expect everyone to type in English (for the convenience of moderation and global-understanding among members), but it must be recognized that fans can and will be (possibly primarily) familiar with all sorts of different versions (or "re-versionings", if you will) of the franchise. However, emphasis will be placed on the original Japanese version, as it is the single "global" version that can be enjoyed by all, and is the primary focus of Daizenshuu EX as a whole.

Furthermore, certain regional-specific spellings and quirks may automatically be adjusted by the forum to reflect this global perspective.

We do not condone bootlegging. We do not want to hear about your bootleg DVDs. We do not want to hear about how many episodes you have downloaded. Yes, we can tell those screen-caps come from bootleg DVDs and/or ripping-groups' downloadable versions. We do not want to hear about how many V0/scene MP3s you have collected. When it comes down to it, DBZ has had a very rough uprising in various countries, but we are finally at the point where we can legally purchase many of the things we want and support our fandom.

Our forum is not a place for you to plug your site or spam anything specific. If something comes up in the normal routine of discussion, that is fine; don't come to the forum just to plug something, though. We certainly have no problem what-so-ever if you have some wonderful resources available that might be of interest to our visitors and readers; just do not let your own works be the only thing you ever discuss. Be sure to contribute!

Needless to say, no grossly-offensive imagery in your avatars, please. Keep them tasteful. Also, they may not exceed 80x80 pixels. Any signature images seen will be removed immediately; emphasis should be placed on your conversational contributions, not how cool of a signature image you can create. Signatures may not exceed four lines of text.

You are to have but a single account on the forum. This keeps the database clean, and keeps everyone else free from confusion. If you have problems with your account (such as activation or password changes), please contact us and we will be happy to fix any problems. Multiple accounts will be immediately deleted.

Keep in mind that you are not a moderator. While a helpful and friendly reminder to some of our new members about certain posting habits is appreciated and welcomed, please do not go around continuously "enforcing" the rules on your own. Leave the moderation to the moderators, and the moderators alone. Furthermore, be respectful of the moderators. They are here to have fun just as much as you are, and any advice they give you is for the better of everyone's enjoyment.

Be sure to look through all of the resources available to you over on Daizenshuu EX as a whole! We are not just a message board, just like we are not just a podcast! We have guides for a wide variety of things (soundtracks, manga, etc.), and consistent news updates. Chances are, you will find something of use on our site!
